Talking about the superficiality of Hollywood, it was reeeeally nice to see people on the net uniting to bullshit Cathy Horyn’s critique on Christina Hendricks’ champagne ruffled gown she wore at Golden Globes. Designed by Christian Siriano, a Project Runway alum, this gown made Christina look sizzling, at least to us the ordinary mortals. Actually with her devastating cleavage, she looks just great in anything she wears.
But apparently the New York Times blogger had her own stupid rules of fashion. What keep troubling me is no matter how talented or how good a human being a woman is why she is forever judged by her looks (read body) and dressing. This is certainly not the way we talk about men in Hollywood. Ok, conceded that it helps if they are hot bods but talent still ranks high on the list as far as men are concerned. And the picture Cathy Horyn used with her blog was actually widened to make Christina look fat and odd. She owned it up in her later blog that picture got accidentally distorted. “The photo was slightly distorted inadvertently due to an error during routine processing. The photograph has been replaced,” she wrote.
Christina’s husband, Geoffrey Arend, came out in the open to defend his gorgeous wife to PEOPLE. The proud husband could not stop gushing “Honestly, she’s the greatest woman I know. She’s the most beautiful woman I know. She’s the most talented woman I know. It’s like there’s not enough adjectives that could express or superlatives that could express how wonderful she is.”
As far as Christina is concerned, she is standing by her gown. Mad Men’s star told to the PEOPLE, “I loved it! I thought I looked gorgeous!”
