If you thought that Captain Jack Sparrow is one character that Johnny Depp won’t be able to live down then you are wrong. Depp has proved his ability to get under the skin of the character once again by playing Mad Hatter in Tim Burton’s latest released movie, Alice in Wonderland. I won’t be surprised if the movie goes on to become the next blockbuster.
One explanation for his stupendous success in playing a huge wide variety of roles such convincingly may lie in the fact that he enjoys doing whatever he is doing at the moment. For instance, in Alice and Wonderland he was required to wear a skirt for a scene as Mad Hatter is supposed to be Scottish. He not only managed to work around his Scottish accent but also enjoyed his skirt scene.
That’s what he had to say about his role as Mad Hatter, “The Scottish accent was something I did mess around with in ‘Finding Neverland’. Tim Burton and I talked about the Hatter being made up of different people and going dark and dangerous with the Scottish accent. I hope I arrived there. And I like wearing skirts too,”
With Depp as Mad Hatter, I am sure one tea party is not enough. Is it possible to have a sequel of Alice in Wonderland?
