Gloom fell on the world of music and dance as the news about the sad demise of Donna Summer, who was popularly and rightly known as the Disco Queen, spread through its realms. The five times Grammy award winner lost the battle of her life to cancer at the age of 63. She had helped define the entire generation of the 1970’s with some of her most, memorable and controversial songs.
The legendary singer was known for her versatility which helped her to survive across genres and produce many hit songs even during the time when disco-bashing had becoming the latest trend. Being a deeply religious person, it was really not surprising that two of the five Grammy’s she won were for the inspirational music she produced.
Donna will always be remembered for the great contribution she made to the word of music. And as her family has rightly said, the celebration of her extraordinary life and continued legacy is the greatest tribute that her fans can pay to this great singer. As we raise our hands and pray for her soul to rest in peace, let us not forget that she will continue to live on through her music.
